Canadian Immigration Podcast

Whether you are an HR Manager seeking a little insight on the foreign worker program, a foreign national exploring opportunities to immigrate or remain permanently in Canada, or a Canadian citizen seeking information on how to sponsor a spouse from abroad, there is something here for you.

Periodically, Canadian Immigration Lawyer Mark Holthe addresses various topics related to Canadian immigration law, policy and practice. Having previously worked as an Immigration Officer with Citizenship and Immigration Canada on the Canada/US border, he uses this valuable experience to offer insight into many aspects of the complex and sometimes confusing area of Canadian Immigration Law.

Over the past few weeks, there has been a significant increase in the desire for legal consultations with our office. Because we believe in giving back to our community and helping those who may not be able to afford the legal fees of an immigration lawyer, we have set up this podcast to provide general answers to some of the most common questions we receive every day. With high volumes of visits to our site in the last few months, it is not possible to respond directly to everyone’s questions despite how much we want to. The Canadian Immigration Podcast was created to offer free advice to those who need it most.

However, if you would like to hire our law firm to provide legal representation when submitting applications to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, we would be happy to book you in immediately to speak with Mark Holthe. Call us at 1-403-328-1441 or fill out a schedule a consultation form here.

  2. Greetings to you and your staff Sir. I just found your podcast on and decided to send you a message by asking a question.

I am currently in the express entry pool with 455 points and I got a letter of interest from Ontario in December 2015 but I was not able to take up the offer because I got through to do my Doctoral Degree and I had to use the funds I had to start.

I know it’s easier if I get a job in Canada but I dont have the know how. If you can provide any immigration help or direction please let me know.

I am hoping to hear from you soon.

  3. i applied for a work permit through an agent after few months i got a call from Canada for verification but due to bad transmission they reject my work visa now i want to know that after how much time i can reapply for work permit

  4. I recently applied for a study permit which was refused with the following reasons:
    1) purpose of visit
    2) Current Employment Situation.
I was asked to reapply if I can provide answers to these issues.
I do not know what exactly to do because the purpose of visit which is to study was clearly stated and backed with an offer letter from a school. But I am completely at loss with the second query.
Please how do I get answers to these questions so I can reapply before it becomes too late.
    Thank you
